Recently, I was honoured to host the incredibly talented artist Lynda Mangoro at my home studio for a Healing Art day. I have such precious memories of the day we spent together, having been an admirer of her work for some time… but wow, watching her really get into her creative process right there in my studio was awe-some, in the truest sense of the word. Lynda has kindly offered to share her experience. As someone who puts her artistic flair to use in her work as a designer and illustrator, she’s very good at creating for others, but perhaps not so much for herself. I remember the pressure for her to work to any specific agenda melt away, and what arose from that place was a thing of beauty.
Lynda says: “I was blessed to have one of Olivia’s amazing Healing Art sessions recently, and I honestly hold that moment dear in my heart. It was such a special day.
I love to paint, but something had got lost along the way with life, responsibilities, work. I remember clearly our discussions around the story being the most important factor when making art: I hadn’t painted for some time – and speaking honestly, I sometimes struggle to be truly ‘free’ with my painting.
Having the space held so compassionately by Olivia while I rediscovered my inner artist was valuable to me beyond words.
A transformational day to hold in my heart.
unstructured time to let something unfold and tumble out of me. I don’t think I realised how
much my soul needed that time and nourishment, and how healing it could be to paint in the presence of another person. Olivia has a truly special gift for holding space for magic to happen, and I can truly say that the value of this day could be in the thousands.”
